The openW.I.S.E. project presents the open web pages on how to enhance the school-based practices of teaching and the acquisition of learning materials in the basic elementary education through the aligned use of Internet based learning content and activities.
We search, evaluate, aggregate, share the on-line knowledge repositories that freely provide information and interactivity to learn and to teach the basic elementary competencies in writing, reading, creative arts, mathematics, sciences, languages, culture, technology use, and Internet safety.
We bring to all the teachers the resource context to develop their competencies on information and communications technology. We introduce the "what to know", "what to do", and "what to be" in aligning the use of computer software and Internet services in teaching and learning.
We build the on-line community of elementary teachers inside the NING social network. It is where all teachers can collaborate and engaged in knowledge sharing to fill-the-gaps of learning, and to enhance the teaching framework and methodology through the teachers driven discovery and use of information and communications technology.
The Internet classroom is a free service provided by nicenet.org. It a simple on-line place where any teachers can register and create on-line classroom, to publish instructional materials, to do on-line discussion, and to provide links to the web-based digital content.
The safe place for both learners and teachers to engage anywhere and anytime on the lessons to be introduced, topics to be reviewed, written assignments to be submitted, and ideas and experiences to be discussed.
We make all teachers to easily navigate the Internet and discover instructional materials and activities to match their instructional plan and learning scenarios for a particular subject. We locate, review, and post the web addresses of applicable free and education-ready knowledge and activity providers for the elementary students.
Open Digital Education Software Kit offers open standard software that the teachers and learners can freely download, install, use and share. Click here to continue...
The everyday challenge of a classroom teacher is to fulfill the end-to-end process of bringing about the learning objectives or outcomes of the curriculum. The teaching process has to be managed effectively in the light of the constraints provided by the learner condition, content quality and availability, activity tools usability, and national performance-criterion.
The teacher's accomplishment is viewed in terms of his or her ability to plan, execute, evaluate and improve the teaching process in order to make all students accomplish the expected outcomes of the curriculum. The teacher has to provide the relevant environment to make all learners deliver the products that demonstrate attainment of the performance expectations at the school and national levels.
In this context that ICT4Teacher is presented to blend the deliberate inclusion of open software and Internet services into the teaching process that traditionally get good resource input from non-digital means.
The goal is for digital technology to provide the computer software and Internet services to make easy, efficient, and relevant the input resources being used by the teachers to address the least mastered or difficult to teach topics. At the end the teacher must be able to realize effective teaching through technology in enhancing the instructional methodology to meet the learning performance goals of all learners.
The three days training explores and applies the concepts, practices, and products to align the use of information and communications technology in teaching and learning. The training is for all basic education teachers. The capability building is designed to happen in the school's classroom. It is learning by doing. The participating teachers must have knowledge on their subject matter, and have teaching ability.
Core Training Topics:
1. Effective Teaching Practices and ICT Use Configuration Model
2. Designing Planning and Delivering ICT Based Learning
3. Discover, Review and Use Open Standard Software for Learning
4. Discover, Review and Use Public Internet Services for Learning
5. Internet Safety and Digital Security for Teachers and Students
Basic Training Results
1. School based statement of motivation and principles on the effective use of ICT in teaching and learning.
2. School based ICT use configuration design to guide the acquisition and setting up of the technology hardware, software, network and bandwidth for teaching and learning in the classroom.
3. School based software and Internet sites resource mapping matrix to suit the learning objectives of the targeted learning subject and topics.
4. ICT enhanced lesson plan to contain the align use of the computer software and Internet services as study helper and activity builder.
5. Basic computer operation skills of the teachers to install, run, and explore the use of computer software; and to browse, search, run and explore the use of Internet services for teaching and learning.
6. Practice the proactive ways of Internet safety.
